ImOn Ice
ImOn Ice near Cedar Rapids IA is a multipurpose sports and recreation venue. It’s a double rink facility, with one being a 4000 seat NHL size rink and the other an Olympic sized rink with an observation deck. ImOn Ice is home to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders USHL hockey team, Eastern Iowa Figure Skating Club, Iowa Speedskating Association, Cedar Rapids Curling Club, and Cedar Rapids Hockey Association. The venue is owned by the City of Cedar Rapids.
ImOn Ice has been serving the Cedar Rapids community for over 20 years. It acts as a community centre, offering public skating, skating lessons, figure skating, youth and adult hockey, speed skating, and private lessons. There are several recreation programs visitors can take part in, such as Broomball and Curling. It is home to the Curling Club and offers Learn to Curl sessions, Curling Leagues, and Group and Corporate events. ImOn Ice also provides several services, such as skate sharpening for figure skates and hockey skates. It also has a variety of merchandise for sale that includes tape, laces, gloves and socks, soakers and skate guards. ImOn Ice, as mentioned before, offers group skating lessons and follows the Learn to Skate USA program. This program is endorsed by US figure skating, USA hockey and the Special Olympics. Each program is six weeks long and meets once weekly. There are specially designed levels and courses for each level; for example, for children from ages 4-6, the Snowplow Sam level allows creative learning through games and songs; this class is an innovative way to introduce the sport of skating. The program’s registration fee includes skate rentals, public skate passes, and membership for Learn to Skate USA. ImOn Ice can also help organise birthday parties. There are a variety of packages to choose from with several add ons.
ImOn Ice strives to create a great environment by offering plenty of recreational activities for all ages. The youth hockey programs offered include Try Hockey for Free, Learn to Play Hockey, Instructional Program. If you don’t have the required gear for hockey, ImOn Ice has a loaner equipment program, which has gently used gear donated by players. RoughRiders Hockey team also has different camps scheduled at ImOn Ice. These camps aim to bring the area’s best coaches together to impact the development of hockey players. These camps are open to all players regardless of home associated and are Co-Ed.
